2000 Course Description

This year marks the first year of Section W-1B’s Teaquan Wask University (TWU). At conclave, you will have the opportunity to attend three courses from one college, or one course from three different colleges. If you fulfill the requirements specified by each college, you will earn an Associate Degree from that particular college. If you earn an Associate Degree this year, you will receive a diploma including a TWU Associate Degree patch. If you come back next year, you can add on to your Associate Degree and receive a Bachelor’s Degree with a TWU Bachelor’s Degree patch. If you return a third year, you can earn a Master’s Degree with a TWU Master’s Degree patch. Finally, if you return for a fourth year with your Master’s Degree, and be either a Professor or Professor’s Assistant in the college you earned all of your degrees in, you will earn a Doctorate Degree with a TWU Doctorate degree patch. The course descriptions for each college are listed below.

 

Ceremonial College (CC)

This college is designed for those Arrowmen that are interested in becoming or active in Ceremonies. To earn a Ceremonial College Associate Degree you must take CC 100 and two courses from the list below.

CC 100: Preparing Your Ceremony Team FOR Performances
This required course will impact on you and your entire ceremonies team. Being taught by Arrowmen who have judged on the National level, you will learn key tips to helping your team perfect your performance.

CC 110: Learning Your Ceremony Part and Becoming Your Character
This class is designed for the more beginning ceremony members. You will learn insights on how to memorize your part and tips on how you and your jesters will better depict your character.

CC 120: Staging Ceremonies
Need help with the appearance of your team? After this course you will have great knowledge in your site layout, dress and regalia, and basic stage acting.

CC 130: Chokers, Breasts Plates, and Bead Work
This hand’s on course is dedicated to helping you make either a choker or breastplate. But with this course comes a small fee, which is $10-$30, depending on what you make.

 

College of Lodge Management (CLM)

This college is designed for those Arrowmen that are interested in becoming or already active on the Lodge level. To earn a College of Lodge Management Associate Degree you must take CLM 100 and two courses from the Lodge Management or General Studies courses listed below.

CLM 100: Working with adults/youth
This course is designed for both youth and advisers who want to learn about each other’s role in the OA and methods to help build stronger relationships between them.

CLM 110: An Effective Elangomat System
This course will help you clearly understand the Elangomat Program and it’s effectiveness of the Ordeal, and establish or enhance this program in your lodge.

CLM 120: Managing Unit Elections
Help your Lodge’s Unit Election procedures in one hour. Learn how to recruit and lead election teams, understand and be able to present the training program for election teams.

CLM 130: Ordeal Management
Master the ordeal process by learning where it fits in the induction sequence and how to deliver it in a timely and organized fashion and utilizing the man power of your Lodge to provide the candidates with the best experience possible.

CLM 140: Lodge Management Game (All 3 Sessions)
Do you think you can run an entire year of a Lodge in three hours? Come on find out in this crazy, off the wall, but very helpful course. (This course fulfills the requirements to receive a CLM degree.)

CLM 150: Lodge Financial Management
Want help with developing your lodge budget or fundraising? This course will show you and help you with your budget and discuss methods you can raise funds for your lodge.

CLM 160: Increasing the Brotherhood Conversion Rate
It may seem impossible, but the Brotherhood Conversion rate for the National Quality Lodge Requirements is not impossible. Learn how to achieve it by going to this course.

CLM 170: Lodge Beauty Tips
Does your lodge need a face-lift? Enhance the image of your Lodge to members, non-members and your local Council.

CLM 180: Fundamentals for Successful Lodge Events
Gain insight into improving the quality and success of your Lodge events.

CLM 190: Quality Lodge Requirements for the Lodge
In this course you will dissect the Quality Lodge petition, finding out that the award is obtainable and what elements your lodge needs to work on to receive this award.

GS 100: Utilizing the Internet
The World Wide Web can be a confusing place. Learn about the many OA resources on the web and how to utilize them to better your Lodge.

GS 110: Dynamics of Leadership
Learn about your own leadership styles, understand the interpersonal skills and how to use the effectively, and understand how you set the example and how your example affects others.

 

College of Chapter Management (CCM)

This college is designed for those Arrowmen that are interested in becoming or active on the Chapter level. To earn a College of Chapter Management Associate Degree you must take CCM 100 and two courses from the Chapter Management or General Studies courses listed below.

CCM 100: Chapter Program/Management
Does your Chapter need help? After this required course, you will gain knowledge of how to create strong troop-chapter relations, how to utilize the Troop Representatives and successful program and operations.

CCM 110: Chapter, Set, Hike
What does football and running your Chapter have in common? If you come to this course, you will see that it is a lot more than you think.

CCM 120: Tool Time for Chapters
This course will help you develop Chapter improvement ideas for creating enthusiasm and participation through effective leaders.

CCM 130: Chapter Simulator (All 3 Sessions)
Want to see how a Chapter is run? See how much fun and chaotic cramming a year of programs into 3 short hours. (This course fulfills the requirements to receive a CCM degree.)

CCM 140: Quality Lodge Requirements for the Chapters
Your Chapter can make or break your Lodge in receiving the Quality Lodge award. See what elements of this award apply to your Chapter and how you can help your Lodge achieve this award.

CCM 150: Unit Representative Program
Learn all about the benefits of the OA Troop Representative program to your Scouting, your Chapter and Troops and learn how to support and develop the representative.

CCM 160: Creating a Super Troop
Take something back to your troop. After this course you will learn the components of a “super troop,” have experienced a great troop meeting and recognize that a super troop doesn’t have to be a big one.

CCM 170: Unit Elections Training
Need help with Unit Elections? Understand the unit election policies, get the answers in the problem areas that you might run into while conducting elections, and be able to conduct a successful unit election.

GS 100: Utilizing the Internet
The World Wide Web can be a confusing place. Learn about the many OA resources on the web and how to utilize them to better your Chapter.

GS 110: Dynamics of Leadership
Learn about your own leadership styles, understand the interpersonal skills and how to use the effectively, and understand how you set the example and how your example affects others.

 

New Arrowmen College (NAC)

This college is designed for new Arrowmen that are ordeal members of the OA. To receive a New Arrowmen College Associate Degree you must take NAC 100 and two courses from the New Arrowmen or General Studies courses listed below.

NAC 100: Breakdown of the OA
Confused about the Order’s structure and where you lie in it? After this course, you will understand how the Order is run and how important you are to it’s success.

NAC 110: Brotherhood Bound
This course is designed for new Ordeal members of the OA. It will allow you to reflect on your Scout life and character, learn of the significance of attaining Brotherhood and outline the “Trail to Brotherhood.”

NAC 120: Brotherhood Workshop
Want to get your Brotherhood? In this course, you will work with a multitude of professors, who will help you fulfill the requirements you need to complete before you can get your bars.

GS 110: Dynamics of Leadership
Learn about your own leadership styles, understand the interpersonal skills and how to use the effectively, and understand how you set the example and how your example affects others.

 

General Studies (GS)

This college is designed for Arrowmen that haven’t decided on a major yet. To receive a General Studies Associate Degree you must take three courses from three different colleges, one course per college.

GS 100: Utilizing the Internet

GS 110: Dynamics of Leadership
Learn about your own leadership styles, understand the interpersonal skills and how to use the effectively, and understand how you set the example and how your example affects others.
