Sven Gilkey
Picture taken in 2003 Section Chief Biography I was born on June 8th, 1983 (the hottest day in AK history). At the age of 5 I enrolled in Tigers by accident because of some mistake about my age (you have to be 6 to be a tiger). After getting my Arrow of Light I transferred to a troop were first went to scout camp, I was also picked on and beaten several times though and this lead me to become a charter member of the troop that I will always call my own, Troop 95. In Troop 95 I slowly went up the ranks of Scouting being SPL and so on. In 1998 I was elected into the Order and called out at that years spring Camporee. At the fall Ordeal that year I witnessed my first election and decided OA was the thing for me. I worked hard during the next year to try and get Toontuk Lodge more active and published the first lodge newsletter in several years. During the early months of 2000 I was the lodge elections chairman, that April attend my first Conclave and was elected Section Secretary. In November of 2000 I was elected Toontuk Lodge Chief. At the 2001 Conclave I served as the CVC for Publications and was reelected as section Secretary. During the two years as Secratary I took advantage of the training offered to me and learned from the other members of the COC. In the fall of 2001 I attended the Regional Council of Chiefs, and the National Leadership Seminar. During the 2002-2003 year I worked with past Section Chief, David Uhl, on the COC but focused most of my time in the OA to reorganize and rebuild Toontuk Lodge. Now I'm your Section Chief. As for my non scout life, I was raised in Fairbanks and graduated in 2001, now I'm attending the University of Alaksa, Fairbanks.
