The 2008 Section Chief

Sam

Giacalone

Dear Brothers,

My name is Samuel Giacalone and I am honored that you have selected me to be your Section Chief. I look forward to working with as many of you as I can in the following year and work hard to put on a great conclave. I also will work hard to better communications with the Lodges of our Section and be sure that those lodges have the resources and support from the section that they need.

A little history about myself; I started scouting in the 3rd grade as a Bear. I went through the ranks of Cub Scouting and in 2001 crossed in to Troop 5 as a new Boy Scout. I held many troop leadership positions including Chaplains Aide, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and now Assistant Scoutmaster. I worked hard to rise through the ranks was an Eagle Scout at 13 years old and I hold a silver and my second bronze palms, finishing with a total of 45 merit badges. I served as a guide for JLTC/NYLT Staff and ASPL for both 2005 National Jamboree and 2007 World Jamboree.

I was inducted in the Order of the Arrow in June of 2003, I soon realized that it was an awesome program and I wanted to be a part of. Since then I have been and Elangomat for 3 Ordeals, ran 2 Ordeals, and served as a Chapter Secretary, Chapter Chief, Lodge V.C. of Activities, and in April 2006 became Lodge Chief and have held that position since then. I was the Lodge Chief when our lodge was the service lodge for Conclave 2007 “Together as One under the Midnight Sun”.

I enjoy traveling, reading, hanging out with friends, biking, hiking, and all sorts of outdoor activities. I enjoy service work and giving back to my community. I am currently attending University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and am studying Criminal Justice.

Once again, thank you for selecting me for your Chief and I look forward to a great year to come.

Yours in Brotherhood,

Samuel M. Giacalone
